This is where you will find my non-Tarot related art. It will be a mix of digital and traditional media depending on my creative whimsy at the time. Comments and feedback are always most welcome.
Another thing happened on the way to the next Tarot card…
I was requested to create a custom seventy-fifth birthday card. After a few false starts, this is the illustration I came up with. I was told he used to live on a farm and own a horse also that he loves cats. Originally, it was going to be a traditional pen & ink drawing, but after spilling ink while refilling my pen, that idea went out the window. I scanned the original, did a digital ink outline of it and then painted it on my iPad Pro. Despite all that, I’m pleased with how it turned out.
Busier & Busier…
So a bunch of my Tarot cards are getting put onto T-Shirts for an upcoming craft show. The little fuzzy guy with the magic staff is also going on some shirts. My wife said we needed more of that kind of thing so… I started thinking back to D&D and Pathfinder and role-playing games like that. Which started me thinking about adventuring groups. If the fuzzy guy is the wizard, why not a sort of guinea pig / capybara knight. Which is where this guy comes in.
meanwhile…
I swear I am still working on my next Tarot card. I swear! However, something else happened. I’m not sure why it happened, except that I have been re-reading some Sam Spade stories by Dashiell Hammett. Whatever the cause… Enjoy!
Soooo… I needed a break…
The latest card in the Tarot project is being troublesome to say the least. So I took a little mental-health moment and created this. Whatever it is… my wife loves it and that means I must’ve done good. LOL!
Be sure and let me know what you think of it!
Here is a little ink sketch which I did in between other things at work yesterday. There wasn’t time to work on anything big like my next Tarot card, but there’s always time to pick up a pencil, pen or stylus for a few minutes.
I liked it enough, that I decided it needed some colour. I took a picture of it with my Samsung Note 10+ and then painted over it digitally on the phone.
A desert landscape sketch done with digital charcoal in Corel Painter 2023 on my PC using a Wacom Intuos BT-M tablet. The tablet is handy because it is wireless so I can sit back to draw without having to worry about a USB cable dangling and tangling. The downside is that this particular model doesn’t support tilt. More problematically, it is not a display device, so unlike when I am drawing on paper or my iPad Pro, I have to look at my monitor rather than where I’m drawing. It’s a process that I’ve always struggled with. Needless to say, at some point a proper tablet display is definitely on the wish list.
Speaking of wishes… If there are any aspiring digital artists out there, Humblebundle.com has a bundle featuring Corel Painter 2023, PaintShop Pro, AfterShot Pro and Video Studio Pro as well as over a dozen brush packs for Painter 2023 for $41.04 CAD. If you check painterartist.com you will see that just Painter 2023 is on sale there for $299.00 CAD. The bundle has been extended until Nov 27, 2023.
I am in no way affiliated with Humblebundle.com and I do not make any money from any sales generated by these links. This is purely me trying to save my fellow artists a few bucks (in this case, quite a few bucks!).
